The subject of the workshop will focus on rhythms and rhythmology we meet in the wide Balkan area. Starting from Macedonia of the Greek land, we will reach out neighboring Bulgaria and Northern Macedonia.  The percussion instrument that is representative of the particular Balkan rhythms of the region is Dhauli and the workshop will be about it.  Additionally, we will learn about the role of Darbuka in this kind of music.

Bio

Christos Tasios was born in Serres in 1976. His interest in music began at the age of 8 by participating in the philharmonic of the municipality of N.Petritsi, playing percussion. Later, at the age of 16, he studied at the conservatory of Serres, studying classical studies and piano. Percussion has always been the subject of his personal study. He studied alongside Costas Anastasiadis and Stefanos Agiopoulos. The many and different influences allowed him to collaborate with musicians from different fields. Some of them are Glykeria, Eleni Vitali, Melina Kana, Lizeta Kalimeri, Maria Soultatou, George Merantzas, Nikos Dimitratos and others. He also participated in traditional music groups accompanying dance groups. He has collaborated with many musicians from all over Greece playing music that he loves. He teaches music and is the chief musician of the philharmonic of the municipality of N.Petritsiou.
